All Classes held at Tennessee Division of
Water Pollution Control Office
3711 Middlebrook Rd, Knoxville, TN
This 2-½ day program offers students accreditation
by the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the International
Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) for all levels
of WellCAP® certification. The course provides the most
practical, hands-on well control training available to the
industry and features the most advanced simulator system
available worldwide. The simulators use actual well data
to mimic possible downhole conditions - recreating all types
of operational difficulties - to test the operator's ability
to resolve the situation and avoid a blowout in a realistic
setting. The instructors also utilize case histories of
blowouts and other well control events to teach prevention
and control.
Memo to: TOGA Members
From: Scott Gilbert, President-Elect
Subject: Training for Drillers, Toolpushers
Date: May 9, 2008
As the Tennessee oilfield continues to expand, we are
faced with new challenges. To meet those challenges, we
are working with state officials of the Water Pollution
Control Division to develop procedures and regulations to
make certain we drill safely and effectively.
One key element in achieving this objective is training.
That is why TOGA is offering this 2 ½ day Well Control
Training Course for Drillers and Toolpushers, taught by
Wild Well Control.
And Paul Schmierbach and Don Owens, Water Pollution Control,
have offered the use of their conference room at their field
office in Knoxville for use as the classroom for this training.
At this point, this training is not mandatory but we agree
with state officials, that ongoing training of drillers
and toolpushers is a key to drilling safely. This class
by Wild Well Control, we believe, is the very best there
is.
That is why I encourage you to sign up your drillers and
toolpushers for this course, which offers students accreditation
by the American Petroleum Institute and the International
Association of Drilling Contractors.
The course is being offered at five different times and
each class is limited to 18 students. And we must have 18
students to conduct a class, so we will assign students
to classes so we can fill up the first dates, before scheduling
students in the classes scheduled for later dates.
We have some 50 potential students already, so we are hopeful
that we can give everyone his first or second choice of
dates.
When we received your registration and credit card information
or check, we will fax, mail or email an enrollment confirmation
form, complete with driving instructions to the class site.
Let's work together to make Tennessee a safe drilling and
producing environment for the crude oil and natural gas
business.
