TOGA CHRISTMAS PARTY, BIG SUCCESS-Chairman Scott Gilbert put on a
fabulous TOGA Christmas Party at the Knoxville Hilton, December 2nd. Party
goers were disappointed that Scott disappeared just before Elvis showed to
put on a show. But Scott was there for the presents reverse auction, thanks
to the shopping efforts of Anne Byrd and the patience and hauling of Bill
Ray. Everyone agreed that Knoxville is an excellent site for a Christmas party.

SITE, HOST NEEDED FOR WINTER TOGA MEETING- The TOGA board of directors,
meeting in Knoxville prior to the Christmas party, voted not to pick a site
for the winter meeting, but rather open it up to any member who would like
to select the site and/ or host the event. Recently TOGA has held its Christmas
party in Somerset, Kentucky, the fall meeting in Oneida, and the convention
in Nashville. So the winter meeting was held in Oak Ridge, near Knoxville.
With the Christmas party shifting to Knoxville, that opens up the winter meeting
for a new site. President Wagoner said the association was open to suggestions.

TOGA WORKING TO GET REGULATION BACK IN GEOLOGY-The TOGA Board of Directors,
meeting in Oneida, in September 2006, voted to make every effort to get regulation
of oil and gas moved back into the Division of Geology from the Water Pollution
Control Division. In 2005, the Department of Environment and Conservation
Commissioner Betsy Child moved all the regulatory activity of our industry
from Geology to Water Pollution Control. She resigned shortly thereafter.
TOGA was asked to take a "wait see attitude", which it did. At the
September 2006 meeting, Past President Bill Goodwin was asked share TOGA member's
concerns with the appropriate officials and to start the process to try to
get the regulatory functions back into Geology. Goodwin relayed the TOGA Board's
feelings to Assistant Supervisor Mike Burton, Environmental Program Manager,
Division of Water Pollution Control Paul Schmierbach and Department of Environment
and Conservation Commissioner James H. Fyke. On Monday, December 11th, Goodwin
and the TOGA Lobbyist Tommy Burnett, met with Commissioner Fyke and Deputy
Commissioner Paul Sloan. Goodwin was given an opportunity to spell out TOGA's
concern about this move and its consequences on the oil and gas industry in
Tennessee. He told the commissioners that Tennessee now is the only state
in which the oil and gas industry is regulated by a water-based agency. Commissioner
Fyke said he would look into the matter and get back to Goodwin after the
holidays. Goodwin said he was pleased with the interest displayed by Commissioner
Fyke and is hopeful for a quick, positive solution to the situation.
36TH TOGA CONVENTION TO INCLUDE 1ST ANNUAL TRADE SHOW- The 2007 TOGA
convention in Nashville, May 9th through the 11th, will include a trade show
for the first time. President Wagoner is sending out invitations to some 150
potential exhibitors, inviting them to participate in this first-ever event.
As an incentive, non-TOGA members will receive one free one-year membership
in TOGA with their booth. A single booth is priced at $400 and a double booth
is $700, if paid by March 10, 2007. If you are interested in having a booth

BETTER RESERVE YOUR CONVENTION ROOM NOW- The 2007 TOGA convention,
to be held May 9th through the 11th at the Embassy Suites, Cool Springs in
Williamson County, is rapidly approaching. President Wagoner and convention
co-chairman Bob Nelson have plans for an exciting new format for the event,
including an extra day, an off site event and an exhibition area. They suggest
