CHRISTMAS PARTY, KNOXVILLE, DECEMBER 2nd-The TOGA Christmas party will be held on Saturday, December 2nd at the Hilton-Downtown Knoxville. Hotel room reservations can be made by calling 1-800-Hiltons or 865-523-2300. Mention TOGA for the agreed rate. More details on the party in the next October and November newsletters. Instead, Anne will shop for several very nice gifts that will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

KOGA CHRISTMAS PARTY SET FOR LEXINGTON- The Kentucky Oil & Gas Association will hold its Christmas Party on December 9th at the Limestone Club in Lexington, KY.

ANOTHER SITE COORDINATOR CLASS POSSIBLE-Several individuals have indicated an interest in taking the site coordinator training. About six students are needed to justify scheduling the day-long class that is held at Amelia's in Oneida. The reason is that Mike Burton, Assistant Supervisor, Oil & Gas Board, and one or more state inspectors take time out of their schedules to attend. If you are interested, call Chuck Murchison at 423-627-4350 or the TOGA office at 615-371-6137 and leave a message. If you missed the last session and called, it would be good to call and remind Chuck to put you on the list.

$80 OIL SAYS T. BOONE PICKENS- Speaking at the Oklahoma Independent Producers Association's annual meeting recently, T. Boone Pickens predicted that oil prices will reach $80 a barrel by the end of the year and never falter below $60 in his lifetime. His $80-oil prediction is based on the fact that there is a limited supply of attainable oil to be found, and increased exploration will not significantly increase production. He said 85 million barrels of oil are now being produced each day in the world. Increased production in Africa, the Caspian Sea and Canadian oil sands won't push the number past 86 million barrels. He said there is a lack of "easy" oil to be found and that there is a continued increase in global demand as burgeoning third-world countries become more modern. "Most importantly, consumers are adapting to higher prices," he noted.
