DIRECTORS TO DISCUSS CASING REGS AT FALL MEETING SEPT
18TH - The TOGA directors will discuss the new casing
policy introduced by the Water Pollution Control staff, during
the board meeting, 4:30 p.m., Thursday, September 18th , at
the Oak Ridge Country Club. The discussions are in preparation
for a comment session regarding the new policy before the
Oil & Gas Board, October 27th and 28th. During the August
26th Oil & Gas board meeting, President Scott Gilbert
asked the board to hear TOGA members comments about the new
regs and Chairman Chuck Head, agreed to open the floor to
TOGA representatives at the next Oil & Gas Board meeting.
CNX is hosting the TOGA meeting in Oak Ridge. All members
and guests are welcome for the board meeting or the reception
at 6:00 p.m.
OIL & GAS BOARD TO MEET IN KNOXVILLE, OCT 27-28TH-The
Tennessee Oil & Gas Board will meet Monday and Tuesday,
October 27 and 28th at the office of Water Pollution Control
to hear contested cases of Miller Petroleum and East Tennessee
Consultants regarding large fines for failing to plug or produce
wells. In both cases the Water Pollution Control staff offered
to let the operators to sign agreed orders regarding the fines.
In each case, the operator chose not to sign agreed orders
but rather to appeal the matter to the Oil & Gas Board.
SOMERSET REFINERY TO BE AUCTIONED SEPT 24TH-Tranzon
Asset Advisors, a national real estate auction firm, has been
appointed by the Bankruptcy Court to sell the assets of the
Somerset Refinery. The auction will be sold in 7 lots or as
a whole. Trustee William Bishop said there is still a chance
that the property could be sold before the auction date and
that there are currently three possible candidates who might
by the refinery in a private sale prior to the auction date.
"All they have to do is put up the money up," said
Bishop. Sealed bids are to be received by the Tranzon advisors
before September 19th. Potential bidders can obtain information

TWO NEW OIL BUYERS IN TENNESSEE-There are two new
oil buyers/haulers serving Tennessee. Ray Calvert is now hauling
Tennessee crude to the Country Mark Refinery in Mt. Vernon,
Indiana. Call Ray at 270-783-0661 or on his cell phone at
270-622-1432. Scott Smith, Regal Petroleum Company, Knoxville,
is now hauling Tennessee crude oil to a Sun pipeline connecting
near Glasgow. Call Scott at 8865-521-5010 or on his cell phone

TOGA CHRISTMAS PARTY DECEMBER 13TH- Vicki Guess and
her team at Griffith Services began thinking of Christmas
in August. In a fax, mailing and email to members, Vicki announced
that the party would be held on December 13th at the Dancing
Bear Lodge in Townsend. On tap will be carriage rides (with
sleigh bells), open bar and horsd'oeuvers, dinner buffet,
Santa with presents and a live band. Rooms will be available
at $99 per night. Vicki is asking for sponsors of $100 to
$1000. They are also looking for volunteers to help Santa.

STATE REDUCES WALDEN RESOURCES FINE-.The state initially
fined Walden Resources $50,000 for violations when its well
blew out in March and burned a rig. At the Oil & Gas Board
hearing, August 26th, the state announced that the fine was
reduces to $26,700.
STATE NAMES NEW OIL & GAS BOARD MEMBER-The governor
has named Ken Haslip, Vulcan Materials, Knoxville, as the
hard rock mineral representative on the Oil & Gas Board.
Geologist Jim Washburn was reappointed to the board, now as
the industry representative.
PLATTS APPALACHIAN GAS CONFERENCE, OCT. 29-30TH -Tennessee
operators may want to consider attending the Platts Appalachian
Gas Conference, scheduled for October 29-30th in Pittsburg,
Pa. The two day event focuses on reserves, production activity,
pipeline access, prices and more. TOGA is one of several co-sponsors

WILD WELL TRAINING AVAILABLE-According to the state,
effective immediately, all tool pushers and drillers are required
to complete an IADC well control training school. Nearly 100
drillers and tool pushers have completed the TOGA sponsored
training program, taught by Wild Well Control. More class
will be scheduled as needed. Call Teresa at the TOGA office,

have enough students, a training session will be scheduled.
CROWN HAS OILFIELD LINE IN STOCK- Crown Wire &
Cable, Inc., a member of TOGA and KOGA, is one of the largest
stocking distributors of steel wire rope, submersible pump

including cable tool drill line, winch cable and rotary drilling

EXPERIENCED TEXAN WANTS TO MOVE HOME-Cody Smith, 361-772-2248,
works in the Texas oil and gas industry but wants to move
back to Tennessee. Has experience with all types of gas treatment
