RIVERS FORD DIES, SERVICE OCT. 11, BOWLING GREEN - Rivers Atwood Ford, 81, former TOGA board of director, died Sept. 2, 2010 at a DeLand, Fla., nursing home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 11th at the JC Kirby & Sons Funeral Chapel, 820 Lovers Lane, Bowling Green, KY. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Halifax Health Hospice , Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.

PILOT FOUNDER SPEAKS TO TOGA MEMBERS- Jim Haslam, founder of the nationwide chain of Pilot Travel Centers and father of Bill Haslam, chatted with TOGA members then gave a brief presentation, asking TOGA members to support and vote for Bill Haslam, Republican candidate for Tennessee Governor, in the November 2, 2010 election.

UNIVERSAL SPONSORS BOARD MEETING- More that 50 TOGA members and guests turned out for the TOGA board meeting, held September 8th, at the new community center in the old First Trust bank building. TOGA director Bill Ray, who owns the building, also had all of the TOGA spill trailers on display for the members and guests to view. Anne Byrd prepared the room and provided an elegant buffet.

EMERGENCY CALL NETWORK PLANNED- During the TOGA meeting, Oneida-based Telepage, Inc. presented a proposed new emergency reporting internet-based phone network that TOGA is developing. When in place, when there is an or gas related emergency in Tennessee, one phone call can be made from the site of the emergency that goes to a group of first responders. For there, they will alert other TOGA member to help deal with the emergency..

STATE DEVELOPS NEW FORMS- The state has developed a set of forms for permitting a well, plugging a well, etc. that can be filled out on a computer. They are a work in progress and can be found on the TOGA website at www.tennoil.com.

OIL & GAS BOARD HEARING SLATED FOR NOVEMBER- The Oil & Gas Board will meet in November, at a date to be announced soon, to introduce proposed Oil & Gas Regulations changes the Water Pollution Control staff has drafted. The board will also deal with the case of Young Oil Corporation, assessed a $116,000 penalty in a Citation for failing to submit a proper annual well report and for failing to plug non-producing wells in a timely manner.

INDEPENDENT CONSULTANT AVAILABLE- Seth J. Garfield, an independent consultant with expertise in overseeing drilling, stimulation, workover and horizontal drilling is looking for consulting work now that Atlas Energy is downsizing in Tennessee. He also has experience with Universal Well Service and Schlumberger Oilfield Services as a field engineer. SPONSORS NEEDED FOR CHRISTMAS PARTY- The Grand Ole Opry is now open and the Opryland Hotel will re-open November 15th in time for the TOGA Christmas Party, December 11th. The question is "will we be ready?" Vicki Griffith, Chairman, says we only have a hand full of sponsors signed up and few Christmas party reservations. GAS CONFERENCE REMINDER-Platts 3rd Annual Appalachian Gas Conference is scheduled for October 28-30, 2010 in Pittsburg, PA. As TOGA is helping promote the conference, all TOGA members will receive a $350 discount off the registration fee.

BACK TO NASHVILLE FOR 2011 TOGA CONVENTION- The 2011 TOGA Annual Convention will be held at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville in May 2011.

GOODWIN WELCOMES NALTA-The National Association of Lease and Title Analysis were scheduled to meet at the Opryland Hotel before it flooded. When the group relocated its convention to New Orleans, they invited TOGA Director Bill Goodwin to come to New Orleans, Sept. 16th, to deliver the welcoming address and update them on Nashville's flood recovery.
