at 615-371-6137 and ask for Teresa or leave a message
2010 DUES NOW DUE - TOGA members have now received
an invoice for their 2010 TOGA dues. President Gilbert put
a brief note on the invoice noting how much every member is
needed as we deal with the critical issues facing our industry,
both in the state and across the country.
GLOVER'S MAPS DONATED TO TOGA - Lucille Glover, widow
of long time TOGA Board Member and highly-acclaimed Petroleum
Engineer Willard Glover, has donated the maps that Willard
collected over his long career to TOGA. They will be kept
in the office of TOGA President Elect Jim Washburn in Livingston,

and well data that can be accessed by any TOGA member by calling
Jim and setting an appointment. If you know of anyone that

TOGA MEMBERS INVITED TO SHALE CONFERENCE - The American
Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG) would like to
invite the Tennessee Oil & Gas Association to participate
in 'The Marcellus Shale: Energy Development and Enhancement
by Hydraulic Fracturing Conference' being held May 5-6, 2010
in Pittsburgh, PA. Members are welcome to attend the meeting
as well as give a presentation. The abstract deadline is March
24, 2010. We would like to ask that you post the meeting on
your calendar of events/meeting website. Additional information,
including the 'Call for Abstracts' can be found at www.aipg.org.
GREENE COUNTY OPPORTUNITY - TOGA recently received
this note, "Hello, I am Mike Wilson. I own one hundred
and twenty five acres in Greene County. A main gas line runs
through our property, several people in the area have drilled
for water, only to hit gas. I think there is a high probability
there is gas here, since the main line runs thru our property,
all we need is to drill, and put in a pumping station. If
anyone is interested, please call 423-638-2076."
GOOGLE WRONG ABOUT FRACING - Regardless of what Google
says, fracturing has never contaminated groundwater, though
it's been used to help produce more than 1 million wells in
the United States. The EPA confirmed this fact just weeks
ago at a Senate hearing. The long and clear record of safety
is a result of effective regulations, and the strong commitment
from industry to ensure that water supplies and the environment
are protected. Last April, President Obama's commerce secretary,
Gary Locke, said: "Over the next 30 years, the Fayetteville
Shale Play will serve as a foundation for new business growth
and the creation of higher-skill, higher-wage jobs in Arkansas,
all while strengthening the nation's energy supply."
He's right. It will. And hydraulic fracturing will make that
possible.
