Ky/Tenn Report
Volume 16, Number 6 JUNE 2009
RECORD CROWDS ENJOY TOGA CONVENTION-The slow down
in the oil business didn't hurt attendance at the TOGA convention
as a record number of both convention attendees and golfers
participated in the convention activities. More than 150 members
and guests enjoyed nearly three days of activities at the
Knoxville Marriott, May 13-15. Board members Vicki Guess and
Lynn Wagoner teamed up with President Scott Gilbert to both
plan and manage the convention. Kathy Daugherty handled most
details and Treasurer Anne Byrd and sister Dean Phillips handle
the registration flawlessly.
TOGA ELECTS GILBERT, WASHBURN, GUESS, BYRD-Scott Gilbert
was re-elected President of the Tennessee Oil & Gas Association,
to serve a second term in 2009-2010, during the TOGA Board
of Directors meeting, held at the Knoxville Convention. Jim
Washburn was elected President-Elect, Vicki Guess was elected
Vice President and Anne Byrd was re-elected as Treasurer by
the board members. Prior to the Board of Directors meeting,
Board members Anne Byrd and Bob Nelson were re-elected.

OIL & GAS BOARD HEARING, JULY 15, TOGA ON AGENDA-In
a letter to Oil & Gas Board chairman Chuck Head, TOGA
President Gilbert outlined the association's concern for the
frequent use of creating policy by the Water Pollution Control
Staff. In response, Chairman Head invited Gilbert to present
the association's concerns during the July 15th Oil &
Gas Board hearing.
YOUNG OIL FILES FOR BANKRUPTCY- Young Oil Corporation
has voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the U.S.
Bankruptcy Court in Bowling Green. The filing pointed out
that Young Oil is being investigated by the Kentucky Office
of Financial Institutions, regarding alleged violations of
security laws. On December 22, 2008, the Franklin Circuit
Court appointed a receiver to manage the company. According
to the filing, since the receiver took over operations, wells
have not been operated property, production reports and payments
have not been made to investors. All this led to the voluntary
petition by Young to regain control of Young Oil Company assets
and operations. The next hearing is tentatively set for June
29, 2009.
DUES-Final notices have been sent to the 51 members
of TOGA who have not paid their 2009 dues. If any fail to
respond by June 20th, they will be removed from the membership
list. As of June 1, 2009, 112 members have paid their dues
for 2009. If you haven't paid yet, please send a check today.
We need your support and participation, especially facing
an administration that seems to be trying to tax us out of
business.
CHRISTMAS PARTY DEC. 12TH, DANCING BEAR LODGE-Toga
President Scott Gilbert has announced that the TOGA Christmas
Party will return to the Dancing Bear Lodge in Townsend, on
Saturday, December 12th. The 2008 Party was a roaring success,
thanks to the efforts of Vicki Guess and team. More information
will be available in future newsletters. Mark it on your calendar
and plan to attend.
