TOGA BOARD TO MEET MARCH 15, FAIRFIELD GLADE-The TOGA Board of Directors will hold their winter meeting Thursday, March 15th at Fairfield Glade near Crossville. The meeting is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. Members and guests are invited to participate. The meeting will be held  in a private room in the Legends Restaurant.

WATER POLLUTION CONTROL CHIEF FIRED-Paul Davis, Director, Water Pollution Control, has been fired by TDEC Commissioner Robert Martineau. TOGA representatives have been meeting with Martineau as well as members of the Tennessee General Assembly to try to find a way to move oil and gas back to Geology from Water Pollution Control, where it was moved under the previous administration. Tennessee is the only state that regulates oil and gas in a “Water” or “Pollution” division. Other states view the development of its natural resources as a benefit to the state. TOGA has pledged to continue work with this administration and the legislature to get oil and gas out from under Water Pollution Control.

WESTERN THEME TOGA CONVENTION, MAY 9-11-Exhibitor packets will soon be in the mail for the TOGA convention in Nashville, May 9-11. Then registration packets will be mailed to all TOGA members. Convention Chairman and President Elect Vicki Griffith is putting the final touches on plans for the convention.

SITE COORDINATOR TRAINING SLATED FOR MARCH-Mike Burton, Oil & Gas Supervisor, plans to hold Site Coordinator Training in March if 20 or more sign up. Details will be posted on the TOGA website and in the March newsletter.

TENNESSEAN NAMED CHAIRMAN OF IPAA- Virginia “Gigi” Lazenby of Nashville has been named Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) Lazenby is the CEO and 100% shareholder of Bretagne LLC, a Kentucky oil and gas production company, founded in 1988. She has been invited to keynote the 2012 TOGA convention.

OIL & GAS BOARD TO MEET FEBRUARY 17th-The Tennessee Oil & Gas Board will hold a hearing, Friday Feb. 17th, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on to conclude business that started at the Jan. 18th meeting. In January, the board heard the appeal of Tennessee Energy Corporation owner Bedford Patterson for a violation for not submitting an annual well report and not having proper well bonding in place. Earlier the board gave approval for a secondary recovery project by Whitley Oil & Gas to inject air into a well in Pickett County. Whitley bought the field from TN-K Energy, which was cited for injecting air without a permit.  All other items on the board’s agenda for January were postponed. Those issues included an appeal by Young Oil Corporation of a Notice of Violation, an appeal of a contested change of operators from Forexco Inc. form PDC Resources and an appeal by PDC-Cambridge, Windsor Resources of a Notice of Violation for failure to bury gathering lines.

CONVENTION SPEAKERS NEEDED-The technical sessions speakers 2011 TOGA convention will be hard to beat so we need to start early to recruit speakers for the 2012 convention to be held in Nashville, May 9-11. FRAC REGS STILL COMING-A Water Pollution Control geologist reported to the Oil & Gas Board at its January meeting that the new regulations, being drafted by the Water Pollution Control staff, were not complete but should be completed in time to present to the Board at its March 1012 meeting.

OIL FIELD LOSS DRAWS $250 REWARD-A $250 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the persons who removed two 210 tanks, ladders, walkway and 1500 feet of tubing from the site of the Serge Luchin well in Morgan County, TN. The well is the old COPCO well, located in Highway 62 near the Citizens tap into Spectra, that came in at 40,000 bod. It was in the process of being plugged when the equipment disappeared. SEEKING INTERNSHIP: Chinkata Chidozie Dickson is seeking a summer 2012 internship opportunity with an oil and gas organization.  He has a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering and is currently studying for his Masters in Natural Gas Engineering at Texas A & M University.  He had a brief experience as a Measurement while Drilling Trainee Engineer with the entire prerequisite in basic MWD and logging principles as an intern during his Bachelor’s degree.  He also worked in the downstream petroleum sector.
