TOGA BOARD TO MEETING IN NASHVILLE, DEC 11- TOGA President
Jim Washburn has called for a meeting of the TOGA board of
directors to take place Saturday, December 11, before the
Christmas party at the Opryland Hotel. The Board of Directors
will meet at 3 p.m., Magnolia Part, Cheekwood D room. As always,
all members and guests are invited to attend and participate.
WPC INTRODUCES NEW REGS, FRACING REGS POSSIBLE- Changes
to the Regulations that govern the oil and gas industry, drafted
by the staff of Water Pollution Control, were introduced to
the Oil & Gas Board at its November 18th hearing in Nashville.
Now there will be a public comment period and at least one
public meeting outside of Nashville, where the public can
comment on the new proposed regulations. Although no public
comments were made during the Oil &Gas Board hearing,
a group of environmental activists attended the meeting and
talked with the television crew that they had alerted about
the meeting. Members of the group told WPC staffers they planned
to introduce fracing regulations in the near future.
BIG TURNOUT EXPECTED FOR CHRISTMAS PARTY- Vicki Griffith,
Christmas party chairman reports that more than 140 TOGA members
and guests have signed up to attend the TOGA Christmas Party
at the Opryland Hotel, Nashville on Saturday, December 11th.
The event opens with a reception, followed by a buffet dinner,
a visit by Santa Clause, gifts and surprises, then dancing
to a live band, Bueller, Nashville's Premiere 80s Tribute
Band. Tickets will be mailed or emailed to those who have
signed up, along with a map.
SITE COORDINATOR TRAINING ON FOR DEC.16TH - Tennessee
Site Coordinator Training will be conducted December 16th
in Knoxville. The session for the required training begins

EIGHTY COMPLETE DRILLER TRAINING - More than 80 drillers,
rig hands, operators and other completed the one day driller's
air drilling safety class, conducted by Roger Willis, President,
Universal Services, at the Universal shop in Lake City, TN
on November 16, 2010. Attending this class meets the state
requirements for on-going driller training. Several WPC staffers
took the class and reported it "more than met expectations."
TOGA is grateful to Roger Willis and the entire Universal
team for putting this class together.
MORE SPONSORS NEEDED FOR CHRISTMAS PARTY - We are
getting close but we still need a few more sponsors for the
TOGA Christmas Party to be held at the Opryland Hotel, December
11th. Sponsorship and registration forms are on the TOGA web
site at www.tennoil.com. For more information Contact Vicki
Griffith or Kathy Daugherty at Griffith Services, Inc. at
865-457-9300.
BACK TO NASHVILLE FOR 2011 TOGA CONVENTION - The 2011
TOGA Annual Convention will be held at the Sheraton Music
City Hotel in Nashville, May 11-13, 2011.
OVERTON COUNTY PROPERTY FOR SALE - The Lee family
property, some 466.38 acres off Copeland Cove Road in Overton
County is being offered for sale. The heirs have agreed to
sell as the potential challenges of owning and maintaining
the property is problematic for the present and increasing
so for the future. For more information contact: John W. Lee,
4330 Whittaker Rd., Cookeville, TN 389506, voc.expert@frontiernet.net.
Call 931-526-8840.
NETWORKS FOCUSING ON FRACKING - CBS started it with
a 60 Minutes piece by Lesley Stahl that really wasn't all
that bad, thanks to comments by Chesapeake Energy Corp's Aubrey
McClendon. Then NBC followed with a very negative piece on
hydraulic fracturing on the evening news. However, on the
Nightly News internet site, an interview with EPA Administrator
Lisa Jackson, showed Jackson saying, "You can see fracking
playing a larger and larger role in obtaining natural gas.
Hydraulic fracturing has been used for long, long time. EPA
doesn't have any evidence setting here today of chemical contamination
of water from fracking chemicals." Of course, those comments
weren't used on the NBC Nightly News.
