BIG THINGS IN STORE FOR TOGA CONVENTION-The 2008 TOGA
convention will be held May 14th- 16th at the Marriott Hotel
in Knoxville. The convention opens with a golf outing, Oak
Ridge Country Club, Wednesday, May 14th. That evening there
is a Welcome Reception at the hotel. Thursday is tech session,
exhibits and panel discussions. There is a Spouses tour of
the Crescent Bend Home with lunch at the Orangey. Representative
Joe Armstrong will be the keynote speaker at the Thursday
luncheon. Thursday evening there is a dinner cruise aboard
the Stars of Knoxville featuring our auction. The convention
wraps up on Friday with business meeting and election of officers.
Registration is $215 for members and $240 if registered after
April 21st. Non-members will pay $265 before April 21st and
$295 after that date. The golf outing is $60 and the Spouse's
tour is $40. Call the TOGA office at 615-271-6137 and ask

and/or exhibitor form.
WELL CONTROL SCHOOL SCHEDULED - Roger Willis, Universal
Well Services, will conduct a one-day special well control
school on Tuesday, May 13th at the Marriott Knoxville, sponsored
by TOGA. A registration form is included with this newsletter.
MORE SPONSORS NEEDED FOR CONVENTION - Platinum sponsors
are $1,000, gold for $500, $250 for silver and Bronze is for
a sponsorship of $250 or less. We also need items for the
auction that will be held following dinner on the river cruise.
EXIBITION SPACE AVAILABLE FOR CONVENTON - The TOGA
convention is a perfect time to exhibit your products to Tennessee
operators. A single booth is $450 and includes an 8 foot by
10 foot space, electricity, covered table and chairs and one
free admission to the convention. There is also a special
Exhibitors reception on Thursday after noon. You will be able
to get free drink ticket from exhibitors.
APRIL 22ND ROOM DEADLINE - Don't wait until the last
minute to reserve your room at the Marriott-Knoxville for
the TOGA convention, May 14th16, 2008. Call the hotel at 865-637-1234
before the April 22 to get the TOGA rate of $199.95. The rack
rate is $159.99 and if you want to pay that amount, there
is no hurry.
BLOWOUT COSTS OPERATOR $50,000 - The Anderson County,
Tennessee, well that blew out March 19th has cost the operator,
Walden Resources a $50,000 fine by the Tennessee Department
of Environment and Conservation. Wild Well Control killed
the well, put out the fire and had the well shut in by Saturday,
March 22nd. The 3,900 foot deep well has a shut-in pressure
of about 1050 lbs.
STATE, TOGA MEET TO STUDY REGS - More than 30 Tennessee
operators and drilling contractors met Thursday, March 27th
in Knoxville with Paul Schmierbach, Division of Water Pollution
Control, and members of his staff, to review the circumstances
that led up to the blow out of the Anderson County well and
to make plans for new regs and operating proceeds to guard
against future blow outs. "We don't need any more blowouts
like this in Tennessee and we need to do whatever it takes
to get prepared so it doesn't happen again," said Lynn
Wagoner, Signature Oil Corp, TOGA president, following the
meeting. Schmierbach asked TOGA to develop operating procedures
to guard against future blowouts and report back to the state.
Scott Gilbert, Vinland Resources and incoming TOGA president,
was named to head the committee to draft the new operating
procedures that will deal with preventing a blow out and dealing
with it if it does ever occur.
TOGA BOARD MEMBER, WILLARD GLOVER PASSES AWAY - Well-know
petroleum engineer and long-time TOGA board of director, Willard
Glover, 86, passed away in Crossville on March 27, 2008. Willard
is survived by his wife Selma Lucille Glover, three children,
two grandchildren and two sisters.
BOBBY McGRAW DIES - Bobby McGraw, 64, Crossville,
long time Tennessee oil and gas operator died March 8th in
Crossville.

ANNUAL WELL REPORTS DUE APRIL 15 - According to Oil
& Gas Supervisor, Mike Burton, all companies are required
to submit their annual well reports for 2007 by April 15,
2008.
OIL & GAS BOARD TO MEET JUNE 10TH-The next meeting
of the Oil & Gas Board is scheduled for June 10, 2008,
when the board will deal with two contested cases, originally
scheduled for the March 4th meeting but deferred.
