KICK OFF 2002 WITH $$$ FOR YOUR PROSPECTS, LEASES- TOGA will have a booth at the NAPE Expo scheduled for January 30-31, 2002 in Houston. If you have a drilling prospect, need a drilling partner, want to sell some leases or raise money for any oil related project, you need to be there. Sponsored by the AAPL & IPAA, it brings oil and gas property/prospects buyers and sellers together. TOGA had great exposure at a smaller prospect expo in Houston earlier this year and has reserved a booth for this event. We need several more sponsors at $100. Sponsors may either attend the event and work in the booth, (we have four slots, first come, first serve) or those of us planning to attend will help promote your prospects to the 8,000 buyers who attend this event each year. To be a sponsor, you need $100, something to promote and a one-page write-up on your property or prospect. Give TOGA a call at 615-263-1291 if you are interested in participating or have any questions. OIL & GAS BOARD MEETING, JANUARY 28-29-The Tennessee Oil & Gas Board will meet Monday, January 28th and Tuesday, January 29th at the conference room in the Life & Casualty Building, 4th & Church St., Nashville. The Oneida West field is on the agenda. LET’S DO IT AGAIN-SKPC TO HOST TOGA CHRISTMAS PARTY IN 2002- South Kentucky Purchasing has informed the TOGA office it will host the TOGA Christmas party again in 2002 at the Eagle’s Nest County Club in Somerset. The tentative date for the party is Friday, December 6, 2002. Frank Lynch, President, Somerset Refinery said that so many people had such a great time at the party and still showed up for the refinery tour that he wants to do it again. So, mark your calendar for December 6th, 2002. It will be another whale of a party. MORE GAS MARKET ACCESS, LEASING STATE LANDS NEEDED- TOGA President told the Governor’s Interagency Energy Policy Work Group that Tennessee oil and gas operators must have greater access to markets for their gas statewide as Tennessee operators begin drilling deeper and finding more natural gas. Testifying on December 17th at a special meeting of the group responsible for developing an energy policy for the state, Goodwin also recommended a pilot program that would allow Tennessee oil and gas operators to lease state land for exploration. He told the three-member panel that one of the factors that may have held up developing a process for leasing state land in the past is that when Tennesseans think of leasing land for exploration and production, they usually think of coal. Production of coal, as you know, makes quite an impact on the land, he noted. He explained that a producing gas well makes less of a footprint on the land than a campfire. And it provides much needed revenue for our state, both in the form of royalty income and severance tax, he pointed out. The TOGA president’s appearance before the Governor’s committee was arranged by Representative Joe Armstrong, D-Knoxville, a member of the Tengasco board of directors. IPAA REPORTS STATE OF THE INDUSTRY-The Independent Petroleum Association (IPAA) reports that in 2001, preliminary data shows that dry natural gas production through October amounted to 16.10 Tcf, up from 15.88 Tcf for 2000 YTDF. In 2000, gross withdrawals of natural gas amounted to 24.48 Tcf, compared to 23.76 Tcf for 1999. U.S. dry gas production as averaged 1.61 Tcf/month for 2001, compared to 1.59 Tcf/month for the similar period in 2000. Total well completions through the third quarter showed an increase of over 35% to 28,951 from 21,405 in 2000. Estimated crude oil production in 2001 rose slightly to an average 5.83 MMb/d compared to 5.82 MMb/d in 2000. The U.S. is now importing 58% of domestic petroleum demand. This is up from 45% one year ago. The rotary rig count in 2000 averaged 918 rigs running in the US, an increase of 293 over one year earlier, but below the 943 average for 1997. The January-November 2001 average was 1,157 topping all recent years. In 2000, crude oil reserves increased by 1.3% and natural gas liquids increased by 5.6%. Dry natural gas reserves increased 6% to 177.4 Tcf, by far the largest increase since EIA began estimations of reserves. U.S. natural gas proven reserves have now increased in six of the last seven years. B&H SUPPLY MOVES UP ON HIGHWAY 27- Bill Lockhart reports that B&H Supply has moved from its location on old Highway 27 about a half mile north on new Highway 27. The oil field supply firm is now located in the old Helenwood Auto Parts building. It is on the right side of 27 as you head north, very near Citizens Gas Utility District, which is on the left side of the road. Stop by and see Bill and Barb in their new location.
