TOGA TO MEET AT MOUNTAIN VIEW, FEBRUARY 28th-The Tennessee Oil & Gas Association will hold its monthly meeting at the Mountain View Golf Course and Lodge at 6:30 p.m. (CST), Thursday, February 28th 2002.. On the agenda are plans for annual convention and elections scheduled for May 15-16, 2002 in Knoxville.  The Mountain View Golf Course and Lodge is south of Allardt, which is just outside Jamestown. At the four-way stop in Allardt, turn south (toward Crossville).  The Mountain View Golf Club and Lodge is in the left about 3 miles down the road. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. ($7 each) with the meeting to start at 7:00 p.m.

TOGA ANNUAL CONVENTION, MAY 15-16, KNOXVILLE-TOGA annual meeting chairman, Anne Byrd has tentatively reserved the Cedar Bluff Holiday Inn in Knoxville on Wednesday May 15, and Thursday, May 16, 2002 for the annual convention. Plan now to attend.  We will be making plans at the February board meeting.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS, DIRECTORS ON TAP FOR CONVENTION-Board members Rivers Ford, Lynn Wagoner, Dieter Hein and Ray Calvert expire in 2002.  A nomination committee will be appointed at the February meeting to nominate board members for election and re-election.  We are also looking for technical session speakers.  If you have any suggestion, contact President Bill Goodwin.

TENGASCO PLANS 6,000 FT. WELL IN COCKE COUNTY-Tengasco (AMEX:TGC) has announced plans to drill a 6,000 ft. exploratory well to the Knox formation in Cocke County, Tn.  The Cocke County well will be drilled in a joint venture with Southeast Gas & Oil Corp., Newport.

YOUNG HITS ANOTHER FLOWING WELL IN METCALFE COUNTY-The Young Oil Corporation announced it has drilled in a third flowing oil well in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, when the Robert Bell #4 came in flowing 200 plus barrels a day.   When the well was drilled to a total depth of 580 feet, it began flowing before the drilling rig could be taken off location.  The drilling rig was taken off location and the well is now flowing oil naturally, for a shallow Fort Payne reef.

JOHN HENRY OIL COMPANY HITS BIT IN ANDERSON COUNTY-John Henry Oil Corporation reports its Coal Creek Mining & Mfg. #8 looks like it is going to be another good well on the firm’s 11,000 acre lease in Anderson County.

OIL & GAS BOARD RESULTS-The Tennessee Oil & Gas Board met on January 28th and 29th to hear three items.  The board voted not to hear a presentation by Black Hawk Resources, Inc. on behalf of Jimmy Pemberton and others regarding operations of some wells.  Miller Petroleum, Inc. sought relief from wells they are not allowed access to in the Big South National River Recreation Area.  The board voted not to offer that relief.  The review of a petition from Jarvis Drilling to unitize the West Oneida Field in Scott County was deferred at the request of the participants.

PROSPECT EXPO WORKS FOR TENNESSEE-Oil company executives, geologists, and financial types couldn’t help smiling when they saw the “There Really Is Oil In Tennessee” banner over booth 674 at the AAPL Prospect Expo, January 30-31 in Houston.  This was the second Prospect Expo for TOGA and from the comments from members attending, they indicated it wouldn’t be the last.  A lot of contacts were made that may turn into future leasing and drilling deals.  Representing TOGA were Bill Goodwin, TMD Energy, Deloy Miller, Miller Petroleum, Mike McCown, Independent Geologist, Dwight and Connie Love, John Henry Oil Corp., and Bob Nelson, AC Insurance.  In addition TOGA members Tommy Cate and Daugherty Petroleum, were showing prospects in both Tennessee and Kentucky.

SENATE ENERGY BILL READY-When President Bush urged the Senate to act on legislation to increase energy production at home so America is less dependent on foreign oil, Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD) responded.  He promised to bring the Daschie-Bingamen energy bill (S.1766) to the Senate floor this month. The hang up may be efforts by Alaska Senators to introduce an amendment that would allow oil and gas exploration in a portion of the Artic National Wildlife Preserve.

HUNT PERKINS ACQUIRES RESORT-TOGA Member Hunt Perkins has acquired and is expanding Cliffview Resort, which is located about an hour and fifteen minutes away from Lexington, south of the Natural Bridge State Park.  For more information, call 859-269-3386 or check out their web site: www.cliffviewresort.com
