Report
Volume 7, Number 65 NOVEMBER 2000
CHRISTMAS PARTY, NOV. MEETING COMBINED,
DEC. 9- The Tennessee Oil & Gas Association board of directors voted to combine
the November meeting, scheduled for November 23rd and the Christmas party,
scheduled for December 9th. The primary reason for the decision was that
November 23rd is Thanksgiving and although the food at the Mountain View Lodge
is good, it isnt worth missing Thanksgiving dinner for. The only other time to meet
would be the 30th and that would be less than two weeks before the Christmas
party.
GIFTS IF YOU REGISTER FOR TOGA CHRISTMAS PARTY- Anne Byrd,
chairperson of the Christmas Party, reports that everyone who registers in advance for the
TOGA Christmas Party will get a gift at the party, which is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (EST),
Cedar Bluff Holiday Inn, Knoxville on Saturday, December 9th. The cost of the
party is $25 per couple.
The reason Anne is offering a gift to those that register is that we
have to let the hotel know in advance how many $30 meals we need. You can register by
calling the TOGA Office at 615-263-1291 or faxing a note to 615-263-1282.
NEED MORE SPONSORS FOR CHRISTMAS PARTY- We could use more $100
sponsors for the Christmas party. The board is charging only $25 per couple. However, the
meal costs about $30 each plus the cost of gifts (if you register in advance), so we need
sponsors to pick up the costs. So far, we have South Kentucky Purchasing Co., Bill Ray,
Mark & Rusty Liming and Halliburton. If you are interested in sponsoring, contact the
TOGA office, 615-263-1291.
BARB LOCKHART SAVES THE DAY, MAYBE A LIFE- As chairman of the
TOGA safety committee, Barb Lockhart, B&H Supply, was concerned about the safety of
drilling crews in areas where hitting H2S gas was a possibility. She pledged to acquire
some H2S monitors that could be borrowed by rig crews. She looked for several months, but
the price of the meters was more than $1,000 each. Her efforts paid off. A friend of the
industry (Barb wont say who) has donated two H2S monitors to TOGA. Barb paid to have
them calibrated and they are ready to go out and warn a driller or rig hand when there are
dangerous quantities of H2S gas present. "Way to go Barb!"
TENGASCO SAYS PIPELINE ON SCHEDULE, PROFIT IN THIRD QUARTER- Tengasco
says that the second phase of its 60-mile Swan Creek natural gas pipeline is proceeding
ahead of schedule and on budget. It is now well ahead of its January 2, 2001 targeted
completion date. The firm says that as a result of higher production volumes and increased
commodity prices during the third quarter of 2000, the firm anticipates it will record
profitable operations for the period of an estimated $0.01 per share.
MILLER FRACS BIG LIME WELL, 50+ BOD- The Miller Petroleum, Inc.,
Tennessee Mining #22B well, Campbell County, Tennessee, came in flowing at a rate of 50+
barrels of oil a day after treatment.
THREE OF NATIONS TOP 200 OIL COMPANIES CALL TENNESSEE HOME- The
Oil & Gas Journal has released its top 200 publicly owned companies. Three are
headquartered in Tennessee. Two are TOGA members. Tengasco, Inc., (Amex:TGC) based in
Knoxville, was ranked 155th, up from 158th last year. Miller
Petroleum, Inc. (OTC:MILL), headquartered in Huntsville, ranks 177th, up from
180th last year. Energy Search, Inc., not a TOGA member, is also ranked in the
top 200. Kentucky has two companies ranked in the top 200, including Daugherty Resources,
Inc., ranked 156th and Blue Ridge Energy, Inc., Bowling Green, ranked 182nd.
Neither team was ranked last year. Both are TOGA members. Congratulations to all. Keep it
up.
CANCER TAKES PUG ARNOLD, JIM McGIRL- Pug Arnold, 82, one of the
best known oilmen in the business died last month of cancer. His son, Bruce, said he was
active in the oil business right up until the last, even though he knew he was battling
cancer. To make matters worse for the family, Pugs wife was too sick to attend his
funeral. She was in the hospital and was able to visit him in the hospital just before he
passed away. He will be missed.
Doc Mayne reports that Jim McGirl, who was active in the oil business
in Tennessee with Western Reserves some time ago, has also lost his battle with cancer and
died in late October.
BASIN HITS IN OVERTON COUNTY- Basin Oil & Gas, Inc., hit
another good Sunnybrook well. It was reported that they hit at less than 500 feet, but
were able to get the well on down to about 500 feet. It is expected to make 50-100 BOD.
OPPORTUNITY IN FRANKLIN, BEDFORD COUNTIES- Todd Segall was
drilling a water well and it blew oil and gas at a shallow depth. The driller killed the
well. If interested, contact Todd at 931-433-5226. Horace Watson is interest in leasing
his 400-acre farm in Bedford County. Contact him at: 400 Pickle Road, Shelbyville, TN
37160.
GAS PRICE DIPS A BIT, OIL HOLDS- Citizens Gas Utility District
is paying $4.42 MMBTU, less brokerage and other charges, for November gas, which is down
from the $5.19 paid last month. This is still a lot better than we have had in the past.
Crude oil remains near $30, As South Kentucky Purchasing Co., was paying $28.75 a barrel
as of November 3rd. On October 26th it was $29, up to $29.75 on the
27th, down to $28.75 on the 30th, up to $29.25 on November 1st and
$28.75 on the 3rd
